Breaking Down Barriers: Chiropractic Collaboration in Healthcare
Hello, I’m Dr. Brant Hulsebus, and welcome to our discussion on how chiropractic care plays an important role in healthcare. I’m a chiropractor from Rockford, Illinois, proud to work with the Rockford Icehogs. In this blog, we will explore a research paper on chiropractic care and why it’s a great idea for treating lower back pain. Learn more about chiropractic collaboration in healthcare.
The research, published in eClinical Medicine in November 2024, analyzed multiple studies on lower back pain. It suggests a different approach to treatment compared to the usual medications and MRIs. You can read more about it on PubMed [here](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39606686/).
Movement
Instead of immediately using drugs or advanced imaging, the paper highlights movement-based care as the best first step. This involves making spinal adjustments, something chiropractors specialize in. Our goal in chiropractic is not just to help the spine move better, but to ensure the nerves work properly, too.
However, there are barriers to making chiropractic care a go-to choice. Often, when you visit a regular doctor, they might not suggest seeing a chiropractor. This is partly due to politics within healthcare systems, where doctors refer only within their network. Sadly, this often excludes chiropractors.
Despite these challenges, chiropractors like myself are reaching out to doctors. We share our findings and demonstrate our methods’ effectiveness. But the connections don’t always form easily.
Finally
Ultimately, the most effective care for lower back pain is chiropractic, as shown by research. It’s important that when thinking about seeing a chiropractor, you talk directly to us, as we are the most knowledgeable.
