Prepare for the golf season

The weather is warming up and it is time to prepare for the golf season.  Every year here we see people who did not prepare for the golf season and get injured.  These injuries are costly as the cut into the season and you loose time on the course. Here at Hulsebus Rockford Chiropractic we want to give you a few tips on how to prepare and avoid these injuries.

Warm ups

You never want to stretch cold muscles and joints.  Stretching these cold can actually lead to injuries. This is why we suggest a warm up first. It is always good to get the blood flowing to muscles and joints prior to golf.  There are lots of good warmups. On can be as simple as going for a twenty minute walk first.  Using a foam roller is another great warm up.  In the video we add several warm ups that are targeted at the action of swinging a club.  Having warm ups that match your activity is better, however any warm uo is better than no warm up.

Stretching

Everyone knows stretching is important, however most of us have no idea what to stretch for what.  So when it comes to golfing there are several key areas.  First is the hips.  Getting into your hip flexors is very important.  Second would be your neck and shoulders.  Lots of twisting occurs here.  Third would be a core or trunk stretch.  In the video we review all the above.
